Chaplin vs. Keaton

Chaplin was a director/producer as well as an actor, but in Keaton's case, he'd only direct occasionally, not produce. Chaplin's variation of slapstick was more over the top, while Keaton's technique was more collected, though both were in their own respects ostentatious actors. During action scenes, Chaplin and Keaton both do their own stunts, but Chaplin's scenes are more fast paced with music that's more uptempo, Keaton's scenes are at a regular pace with music that's a bit slower, but still fast enough to keep up with stunt scenes. Chaplin was known to improvise a lot of his material, but Keaton always went with a script. Another difference between the two is that Keaton could act more serious than Chaplin, whose acting was mainly humorous.
